What Animals Live in Old Trolley Line Park?

Looking around and listening you may find many different animals that all play there own part in this ecosystem.

Birds

Red-Winged Blackbirds

Red-winged Blackbirds make nests close to the ground and in cattails. Blackbirds typically eat small insects and berries. These birds can be identified by there signature red crests on their wings and by their calls which sound similar to fireworks going into the air or sometimes you may here a rattle of sorts.

Red-Tailed Hawks

Sometimes you may be able to see a Red-Tailed Hawk perched on a branch or the power lines of the telephone poles. Hawks typically eat small prey such as mice, toads, rabbits, and even other birds. Red-Tailed Hawks are identified by brown color and fan like tail. Their call is a screeching sound.

 

Rodents

Squirrels

Squirrels can be seen all around and are identified by their grey and white fur and long bushy tails. Squirrels eat seeds, small fruits, nuts, and small insects.

Chipmunks

Chipmunks are small and a bit harder to be found. Chipmunks are identified by their light brown fur with streaks of white and black. Their tails are small and bushy. Chipmunks eat seeds, small insects, and nuts.

Mice

Mice can be identified by their long furless tails. Mice eat fruits, grains, seeds, and small insects.

 

Toads and Frogs

Toads and frogs can be seen and heard living in the cattails and small bodies of water. If you listen you may be able to hear the chirps and croaks of them.

Such as robins, crows, white-tailed deer, fox, turkey, garter snakes, voles, moles, groundhogs, cardinals, bluebirds, blue jays, hummingbirds, bees, and so many more! So, take the time and look around and you will see so much more than a park, you will see a full working ecosystem.
